Job Descriptions
• Develop and maintain prototype build plans and schedules.
• Coordinate prototype activities with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Suppliers.
• Monitor prototype readiness and identify potential risks affecting build timing.
• Ensure prototype parts and materials are available according to project milestones.
• Lead prototype assembly builds and trial runs.
• Review prototype BOMs, engineering drawings, and specifications.
• Coordinate fabrication, machining, tooling, and assembly activities.
• Support engineering changes and implement prototype modifications.
• Track prototype build issues and drive timely resolution.
Evaluate prototype designs for manufacturability and assembly feasibility.
• Provide feedback to Design Engineers regarding prototype build concerns.
• Support DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP&R, and product validation activities.
• Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Support prototype testing and validation activities.
• Coordinate dimensional inspections, functional testing, and performance evaluations.
• Support supplier development and prototype part quality improvement.
• Work closely with manufacturing teams to evaluate process feasibility.
• Participate in APQP activities as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in Prototype Engineering, Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- Automotive industry experience preferred.
- Experience with prototype build management and product development processes.
- Understanding of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, and IATF 16949 requirements.
- Strong project coordination and organizational skills.
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking.
