Job Descriptions
The 2D Character Artist is a 2D art all-rounder, with a specific focus on the design / illustration of characters. Role / Responsibilities Conceptualise & illustrate detailed 2D characters for use as game avatars, opponents, retainers, Gods, & others Conceptualise and illustrate 2D environments, icons, & other assets Comfortably use 3D software. Know when 3D use will enhance work and productivity, & when it is not needed Plan deadlines & meet them consistently Work effectively and efficiently with other team members to fulfil production needs Understand and execute the project’s overall vision Respond effectively to feedback. Change requests are design challenges
Qualifications
  1. A portfolio & CV showing 3+ years of relevant experience. Experience and abilities must be clear
  2. Professional experience with illustration and
  3. conceptualisation in Photoshop, in a detailed, realistic, yet painterly style
  4. Professional experience using Blender, DAZ, ZBrush (or equivalent 3D software) to prepare illustrations. Light AND pose reference models accurately, for use as anatomical guides
  5. Skilled at using photo textures
  6. Strong art fundamentals, including anatomy
  7. Familiar with typical design processes like thumbnailing and colour exploration
  8. Understand what makes characters attractive and interesting to players
  9. A good, grounded grasp of clothing styles and personal ornament, especially those present in Ancient Rome and its bordering regions
  10. Able to thoroughly research subject matter, and convey it in a way satisfying and familiar to players
  11. Able to communicate effectively in written English
  12. Degrees / diplomas in Concept Art and / or Illustration Work experience with idle animation of 2D characters in Spine or Live2D
  13. Candidates must submit a portfolio of relevant work for consideration. Candidates who are perceived not to meet the above requirements may not be contacted. Shortlisted candidates are to go through an Art Test.
